ACCORD : Effects of intensive glucose lowering in type 2 diabetes

Intensive glycemic control increases the risk of hypoglycemia compared to current conventional glycemic control.

• Intensive glycemic control increases the annual rate of all-cause mortality (Number needed to harm of 370) when compared to conventional therapy.

• In T2DM patients with CVD risk factors SBP<120mmHg was no better than <140mmHg (ACCORD-BP)

• Addition of fibrates to statins does not reduce CVD endpoints (ACCORD-lipid)
