ASCEND : Effects of Aspirin for Primary Prevention in Persons with Diabetes Mellitus

CARDIOVASCULAR EVENT PREVENTION
In patients with diabetes mellitus, aspirin used as primary prevention reduced major cardiovascular events including nonfatal strokes, nonfatal myocardial infarctions and death from vascular disease.

BLEEDING RISK
Aspirin was associated with a statistically significant increased risk of bleeding. The ACC/AHA recommends 75-100mg of aspirin per day for primary prevention of ASCVD.
