Daily supplementation with n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs)
does not reduce the risk of cardiovascular mortality in patients with
prediabetes or diabetes when compared to placebo.
The results of this study should be interpreted with caution since
the intended benefit of PUFAs may not have been realized due to the
possible CV protective effects of olive oil. Also, see the PREDIMED
Study (Olive oil and CV events)
